Accessories   Pad - volume
back
The volume is involved relevant for a warp-free printing image.

The volume of the pad is important to achieve an undistorted and warp-free print image.

Both, the size of the print image and the surface to be printed will determine the volume of the pad.

As a general rule, the larger the pad (in terms of volume), the more accurate and distortion-free the print.

This is due to the fact that a pad with more volume will not become as deformed when pressure is applied by the printer. The pressure by the pad printing machine is more evenly distributed and a uniform deformation of the pad will occur, which means less distortion of the image as the pad does not slide or push across the surface.

When printing on a flat surface, only a slightly convex pad is required, with a print surface at least 5 mm larger than the actual print image.

In order to eliminate distortion when printing on materials with an extreme convex shape it is necessary to use a pad that has sufficient height and volume with a printing surface that is at least 2-3 times the size of the actual print image.

Note: Large-volume pads with high cycle rates may cause vibrations in the printing process due to their high mass and weight. This, too, may lead to distortions in the print image.

The pad printing machine does not make power adjustments when the volume of the pad is increased.
