Use of UV inks
On request, the printing machines can be equipped with UV dryers and air drying. These hybrid systems allow for the use of UV and solvent-based inks.
Compared with other UV inks, mention must be made of the very low proportion of solvent used in the specially developed “UV-RDF” ink type. When UV inks are used, the caps require no post-drying phase. This delivers the further benefit of faster post-processing and/or packaging and shipping of caps. The use of UV inks results in a good quality under virtually normal production conditions. Another positive aspect is that the UV inks sometimes bond better. The consistency of the ink shades over a longer production period makes possible photo-realistic printing.
Metal caps
The "Continua", "Rotoprint" and "Closure Print" models can be specially designed for printing metal closures. Standard systems are used to print plastic caps. They are equipped with a special jig carrier. When printing metallic caps, our customers are guaranteed the same advanced standard of technology we offer in our plastic cap printing systems which we have been operating with success for a number of years. In the past metallic caps and painted surfaces on metallic caps could not be printed on due to the time required for hardening or drying of the solvent-based inks used. The use of UV inks is now making this possible. Now customers can directly print smaller batch sizes in addition to mass production thanks to printed sheet metal boards. The output data stated on the preceding pages for printing plastic caps normally also apply to printing metal caps. A specially developed jig carrier system with clamping mechanism ensures that the caps can be printed without incurring any damage. The jig carriers are matched precisely to the inner diameter of the caps. Since these are standard concepts with a modified jig carrier system, we can print a number of metallic caps once technical matters have been clarified and a suitable feeding has been selected. |
