| 12 Standard ink types which are exclusively available only at TAMPOPRINT® AG |
Both translucent and covering tampon printing inks of many different ink types and shades are used in tampon printing.
Depending on the type of material being printed, either 1- or 2-component
inks have to be used for good ink resistance.
The 1-component inks dry physically as the solvent element evaporates.
Once
the ink has been transferred, as well as drying physically, the 2-component
inks also trigger a networking reaction.
UV
tampon printing inks
have a low share of solvents. Drying takes place by means of UV light.
RDF
Rotary
tampon printing inks
have a low share of solvents. Drying takes place by means of UV light.

"RDF" tampon printing ink with solvent |
"RDF" thinner |
| A fully revised "RDF" rotary
tampon printing ink type which was developed on the basis of the experiences
we have gained from our "P" and "R" ink types which
have long enjoyed success on the market.
 |
By modifying these inks, we
can now offer our customers a lower cost new generation of rotary tampon
printing inks ready for use with redefined solvents but without any loss
in performance in terms of drying, bonding or endurance.
Can be processed as a 1- and as a 2-component ink and complies with
the requirements of EN 71.
■ + good coverage on dark surfaces
■ + low ink and investment costs
■ - takes longer to dry |
1.1 VDL-RDF thinner, slow drying
1.2 VDS-RDF thinner, fast drying

| "UV-RDF" - tampon printing ink for CMYK photo printing |
The ink is
characterised by a considerably lower solvent proportion than other UV
inks used for tampon printing.

|
UV ink is available in the following
ink shades: white / black, standard bright colours 02-23, CMYK, gold
/ silver, clear lacquer.
Special ink shades can also be mixed on request.
UV ink is mixed ready for use, i.e. thinner does not normally have to
be added. A corresponding additive is however provided if necessary.
Using UV inks saves you time-consuming and costly drying and since solvent does not evaporate from these inks, you can print with constant ink shades for longer periods which is particularly important to CMYK photo printing. |
Furthermore,
UV inks sometimes offer better bonding properties than solvent-based
inks and will therefore be an interesting alternative for materials which
are difficult to print in the future.
While UV tampon printing is very interesting, there will still be areas
in which solvent-based inks are the preferred choice.
■ + dries immediately
■ + constant ink shade
■ + sometimes better bonding
